Blogging has been and is important to me. I have blogged in the past on a regular basis before I changed direction and stopped posting.
Now I realize that was a mistake, and I want to blog regularly again. Blogging is a way for me to build relationships in this Internet driven world.
After much thought, I have figured out my two websites. The process has been a long one, but I’m glad I have figured it all out. The decision is a tough one when it’s your life as a writer and editor.
And the best part? I am writing blog posts on a regular basis, starting with this one.
As I get things rolling here, let’s look at where I’ve been and where I’m heading.
Where I’ve been with blogging
I started this blog three and a half years ago. I was using Fiverr to get some gigs and helping other authors out. That is until I found out I wasn’t supposed to write features about authors and their books.
When I decided to become a freelance writer a couple of years ago, I changed the website to a job related one, hoping to get some gigs that way.
But the more I thought about the freelancing, the more I wanted my author website back. The ideas were flowing so the changes began.
Along with the author website, my other website, Beach Girl Publishing, geared toward other writers came into being. I’m a former English teacher and have always enjoyed teaching others new things.
I want to help others learn to write, and who knows where that website will take me one day.
Where I’m headed with blogging
I intend for my author website’s blog to relate to my readers and my fellow writer. I like supporting my writer friends so all of you may do the same.
I’ll be more personal here and post things relating to my writer life and how it involves me as a parent and as an individual. I may write posts about how I have done my writing and raised two kids. I may write posts about how traveling gives me ideas for my writing.
I’ll share my own writing processes so in case you’re thinking about writing you’ll get ideas. Everyone can be a successful writer. That’s why we have editors, proofreaders, book formatters, and all of those other people who can help us write books or whatever we desire.
But writing isn’t for everyone. I understand that.
If you are interested in writing, I would suggest you take a look at my other website. I provide more information on writing and publishing.
Here on my author website, I will also include book reviews. Writers need to read as well. When you read, you become a better writer. You’re not only learning from books in your own genre, but from books about the writing craft.
As an indie author, book reviews are important for me. The reviews help me market my books. Every day thousands of books are published on Amazon so the more reviews you have the more your books will be seen.
Indie or self-published authors, who aren’t that well-known, need those book reviews to show readers that they are great writers and tell readers, “Hey, take a chance on me!”
Finally, I will share aspects of my books. For instance, I might share how the book was born or the story behind the book. I might share about one of my characters or about the setting.
I might even get creative and interview one of my characters like I have seen other authors do.
Of course, I’m always open to guest posts or suggestions from you.
