It’s the end of February and that time of the month when I share how my writing has gone. And I can honestly say this month has been one of my better months in the last few years.
For the first time in the last few months, I feel like things are finally going my way. Let me tell you why.
Publishing my books in February
First of all, I finally published my three short travel memoirs the beginning of this month. I had actually published the first of the three books at the end of January, but the last two were published of beginning of February.
For a couple of years, I’ve worked on these books, and it was time to get them done. I was ready to have them published and out-of-the-way so that I can work on other books that I really want to write.
Ghostwriting freelance job
This past week has been a whirlwind. After a few years of trying, I landed not one, but two, freelance writing jobs.
Last Monday I had an interview with a publishing company via an app called Slack. I had never heard of Slack so I had no idea how this was going to work.
But as I sat at my computer at the interview time, I quickly realized how easy it was to use. The woman who interviewed me was sitting in Australia and talked to me as though we sat in the same room. Pretty darn cool if you ask me.
We only chatted for about 15 minutes, but at the end of that time, she hired me. I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I was when she said that I could have a chance at doing this.
Unfortunately, I can’t give you details about what I’m doing, but I can say this. I am ghostwriting romance novels for a company.
But what I can tell you is that these books are on Amazon. That will keep you guessing as to whether I wrote the books or whether someone else did.
Writing social media posts
My second freelance job is writing social media posts. This job is slow to getting started because I’m waiting on them to set me up in their system. But I am hopeful that it will work out too.
I enjoyed being on social media and writing posts for myself so I’m sure that I will be fine with this job. Between the two writing jobs, they will hopefully give me some extra money so that I can survive a little better.
They will also keep me busy. When I’m not working on one job, then I can work on the other job. I can mix it up a little bit and not get too bored with the writing.
And, of course, I have my own stuff to work. I love variety so I will definitely get that.
Working on my own books
Since I finished the travel memoirs, I haven’t had a lot of time to work on my own books. I’ve been working on ideas for one of the premade covers I bought during a sale my cover designer had.
I also finished a young adult contemporary romance short story for an anthology that another young adult romance writer is putting together.
This anthology will have 10 short stories in this genre. I’m not sure exactly when it goes on sale, but I do know that we all got them done before our deadline this week. If I remember right, the book will release around the first of June.
I am excited about that because this gives me a foot in the door to this genre. It’s different than the freelance writing that I’m doing for this company so again, I’m loving the variety.
This gives you a great idea of how my life is gone. I sure hope February was good to you.
