Seventeen years ago yesterday, my three-year-old daughter and I traveled with a friend of mine and her three-year-old daughter to see my favorite singer, Rick Springfield.
We traveled three hours to Eureka, Missouri, to the Six Flags amusement park, a few miles west of St. Louis.
Editing my Rick Springfield memoir, the memories of concerts and things that it happened to me related to Rick come back to mind. This concert is a happy memory from my past so I like to think of that to help me avoid the bad memories of this day.
The memories of the singer
The older I get the more I think of things like past memories, especially those good memories. Those good memories make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
Of course, editing this book brings back many memories as I stretch my brain trying to think of things that are Rick related or things that I’ve been through regarding Rick anything that I can grasp to put in this book.
I’ll never forget that concert. It was the day after my daughter’s third birthday. Back then Rick read the signs in the audience.
Fans would make signs so that Rick would read them. I spent the night before in our hotel room making the sign I would take to the concert.
But I don’t want to say too much about this concert because I want you to buy the book once it is published.
As far as the book goes, I am sharing memories of anything and everything I can remember about growing up with Rick as my favorite singer from about age 11 or 12 until now. I plan to put in pictures that I’ve taken as well.
The memoir
Overall, the book won’t be very long. I plan to make it like a short book with probably 30 to 40 pages with the pictures, which will help explain what I’ve written.
I wrote this book, not just to get Rick’s attention, but, of course, if he finds out about it, that’s great. But this is more of me wanting to show the world what his music meant to me growing up.
From the time I was 11 years old, I’ve listen to Rick on the radio. I bought him all of his records so his music has meant a lot to me over the years.
I’ve used his music to get me through the ups and downs and the highs and the lows of my life over the last 30 some years since I started listening to his music.
This book is meant to show my appreciation of his music. I want to tell the world how much is music has meant to me.
