I told myself I needed to get back to writing on my blog. So here I am! I’m back and ready to share my books, other authors’ books, and my single mom life on a regular basis again.
For right now, I’ll post here on the second and fourth Mondays like I’ve done in the past. If I end up with more ideas, I would consider posting every week.
Small steps, though. I’ve gotten overwhelmed with things in the past, so I don’t want to do that again.
Like my word of the year, I’m being brave and want to focus on the things that are most important to me.
So, what is important to me?
1. My writing
Of course, my writing is in the number one spot. I’ve done pretty well with my short memoirs, so I can’t wait to see what happens with the young adult romance I plan to write next year.
Right now my focus for the rest of the year is to get the third book of the Divorce Trilogy done, and re-release the first two books. I’ll be planning the YA romance series I would like to write next year, though. The ideas are rolling around in my head now as I type this.
You may not care about my freelance writing, but I’m not doing much with it at the moment. I do plan to work on rewriting some articles I’ve written for a couple of sites that no longer exist. I’ll submit them to magazines, but that’s about the extent of it.
2. My editing
At the beginning of June, I got back on Fiverr and rewrote my editing gig. Within a few days, I started getting orders left and right. It was awesome! July was an even better month for me.
Between these two months, I covered my bills for the summer. I was pretty anxious about how I would pay my bills, but it worked out.
Now I’m continuing the gig and am making enough to cover the after school job I had. Sadly, the boss replaced me without contacting me. It wasn’t very professional of her. However, it was for the best.
I only hope I don’t jinx myself by writing about this. Sometimes things have a weird way of messing with me just when I think I have things figured out.
3. My book shop
I’m working on putting a book shop on my website. I’ll have my signed paperbacks of my books you can purchase.
I’ll add other things on there like planners, journals, and notebooks I’ve created, and I’m not sure what else at this point. I have a few bags of used books my mom gave me, so I’ve thought about adding those as well.
Why go full-time?
With the way the schools are nowadays, I never know how long I’ll have. They make cutbacks all the time. I’ve already gone from full-time to part-time with no insurance. So, lucky me, I get to use the so-called “affordable” healthcare. But I’ll stop there on that topic.
My ultimate goal is to run my Beach Girl Publishing biz full-time someday. That includes the things I’ve listed above.
I’ve wanted to work for myself since my daughter was born. Then once my son came along almost four years later, I pushed myself even more.
But life got in the way. Things didn’t happen the way I wanted.
Getting to this point in my life hasn’t been easy. At times I was ready to throw up my hands and quit, but my parents taught me I couldn’t quit until I finished something.
And I’m not done with writing. I won’t quit until I have given you the books I want.
