Great Time to get Things Done

Fall break is here, and it’s a great time to get things done. My to-do list is a mile long, but I’m trying my best to get as much done as I can. I would like to have some time to relax and enjoy part of my week at home.

Now I bet you’re wondering what my to-do list might look like. Am I right?

It does include some writing related things. So, let’s take a look at what those are.

Fall break goals

1. Work on Second Chances

Second Chances is the third novel in my women’s fiction trilogy. I feel like this book is taking a long time to get done. I’ve started it four times I think I counted at one point. I do have a final draft, but it’s still not the way I want it.

I hope to reread it and work on the plot this week. I’m leaning toward it to rewrite during National Novel Writing Month in November. The only problem is that challenge is supposed to be for new books of 50K words. I don’t think I need to rewrite that much, so I may be a rebel and work on two projects.

Once I’ve reread the book, I hope to rework the characters and plot, so I’m ready to start writing when November 1 rolls around. I’m anxious to get this book behind me. And I bet you’re anxious to read it and see what happens to Elizabeth.

2. Get social media posts ready

I’m the first to admit I’m not good about posting on social media. Recently, I’ve bought a social media calendar to help me better organized to get it done. The problem with that is I’ve been too busy with my freelancing to work on it.

However, I’m making a point to get it figured out over this break. If I’m going to grow my business like I want, I have to do this. Posting regularly will help me achieve my ultimate goal of doing this full-time.

3. Edit books

My freelance editing biz has taken off in the last few months. I’m using a platform called Fiverr to get clients. It’s kept me so busy that it’s hard to keep up with my own stuff at times. However, the money is helping pay the bills. That’s what’s most important, right?

Yes and no. When I have no time to do my own stuff, I’m not as happy. I would much rather be writing books, but they don’t make me as much money right now.

4. Create new low/no content books

I have new ideas for low/no content books. I need a new planner for 2020, so I’ll be working on something for that. The templates I use have some new ones so I’ll make something using some of them. I can’t wait to see what I can come up with.

I’m also thinking about journaling every morning using a pen and paper so another idea is some kind of daily writing journal.

Do great things

What ideas do you have for something I could create? I would love to hear your ideas.

Well, those are the major goals or the great things to do this week. I would like to take a day or two to do my own thing. I always enjoy going over to a little town and see how the leaves are changing and spend time walking around the little shops.

Having a break from the day job means I’m supposed to enjoy some of my time, not work the whole week. And I hope to do just that.

Do you get a fall break or take time off if you have children who do? I would love to hear what you do!
