October: 4 Ways I was the Most Productive This Month

October is coming to a close this week. That means we’re that much closer to my least favorite season.

Yes, I’m not a fan of winter. The older I get, the less I like it. Of course, that means I stay inside, and I get more writing done.

But it could also mean I don’t get to see the sun as much. The sun makes me happy, and I’m sure some of you will agree with me.

So, what did I accomplish this month?

Blog posts

I haven’t been as good as I should be writing blog posts. I plan them out and write them down on my to-do list in my planner, but for some reason, the words don’t come.

With a progress post, like this one, the words flow from my fingers, which I’m glad I can at least get one blog post done a month. I just wish I could get more done.

Writing and sharing blog posts more regularly is a goal I’d like to hit next year.

Websites

I haven’t gotten as much done with my two websites as I would have liked this month. My Beach Girl Publishing website is now in its new self-hosting home and back up and working.

Both websites still have a few things that need to be done. As I have time, I will be doing those things. My to-do list stares at me every day.

Freelancing

October has been a good month as far as my freelance editing goes. Fiverr picked up, and I got a new client from my marketing in a writing group on Facebook. I would prefer to work with clients off of Fiverr so I can get away from that platform.

NaNoWriMo

A couple of weeks ago, I spent one day of my fall break prepping for National Novel Writing Month. I’ve done this writing challenge every year since 2012, the first year I “won”.

Since then, I’ve only “won” one other time, but I always try to do this even if I don’t hit the 50K word goal. It’s such a fun challenge.

What will I write this year? I’m planning to rewrite the third book of my women’s trilogy. I finished the outline in September, and I briefly thought about starting to write it.

However, I decided to wait until NaNo so I had a project to do. That made my decision easier since I was struggling on what I would write.

Final thoughts

Overall, I’d say October was a more productive month for me than September. Even though I didn’t do much writing other than journaling in my planner every day.

As long as I’m pleased with my progress, that’s all that matters, right? Yes!

Even if you’re not a writer, do you have goals you set each month? Do you have things you want to accomplish?
